Our history

Making things better year after year

For 20 years Sino has been growing organically – not by acquiring other companies, or accelerated by huge injections of capital, but by patiently building up in-house capabilities and skills whilst also winning the respect of increasingly large clients.

Business started by Rob Harris in Bromsgrove, UK, and Li Xie in Jinan, China.

The company acted as a middleman for Chinese manufacturers in Shanghai, Ningbo and Jinan offering injection mould tooling and engineering components to the UK market.

The UK team expanded and moved to larger offices in Solihull, Birmingham.

The company set up its own factory in Shenzhen and invested in machinery for tool making, injection moulding and metal pressing.

The business continued to grow, investing in CNC lathes and adding turned parts to their expanding range of services.

The company achieve ISO 9001 status and continues to pick up fresh customers in a wider variety of market sectors. The Shenzhen factory workforce continued to grow. Sales and technical support is extended beyond UK into Europe and North America.

Move to new office premises at Frome Business Park, Somerset.

Sino moved to a state of the art 54,000 sq ft factory in Shenzhen. An Epicor ERP system was introduced to provide enhanced project, production, quality, customer relationship and supply chain management.

A product development and realisation service was added. A Vendor-Managed Inventory (VMI) service was also developed to provide supply chain support for larger contracts.

Sino factory 2020

Sino celebrated its 20th anniversary and started the year by opening a new sales and technical centre in Quertaro, Mexico to capitalise on the company’s strong year-over-year growth in the region. Jon Harris, Vice President North America Division, relocated there and swiftly established himself by landing several significant orders from major global corporations with local manufacturing plants.
